Richard M. Nedelman, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Richard Nedelman, a Springfield native and graduate of Springfield North High School, joined SAS Surgery & Vein Specialists in 1993. Dr. Nedelman received his B.S. degree in Biology from the Ohio State University. He received his M.D. from the University of Cincinnati in 1987. He completed his internship and surgical residency at the University of Cincinnati in 1993. During his surgical residency, Dr. Nedelman participated in an overseas surgical exchange program in Edinburgh, Scotland where he received specialty training in the treatment of benign and malignant breast disease as well as biliary and pancreatic disease. He completed his chief residency in 1993 when he was awarded the Max Zinninger Award recognizing outstanding performance as a chief resident.
Dr. Nedelman is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honorary Society. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Clark County Medical Society, Ohio State Medical Association. He was active in the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Surgeons and became a council member and head of the membership committee in 2000.
Dr. Nedelman has served as the Chief of Surgery and President of Medical Staff at Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was a member of the Medical Executive Committee, Medical Staff Review Committee and Cancer Committee. Dr. Nedelman is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at Wright State University. He actively practices at Ohio Valley Surgical Hospital and Springfield Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Nedelman practices general, dialysis access procedures, endocrine, as well as advanced laparoscopic procedures. Dr. Nedelman has an interest in breast cancer treatment. He performs advanced laparoscopic surgical procedures including the treatment of Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), and colon resections for benign and malignant disease. Dr. Nedelman also treats varicose veins using Venefit™ Closure, endovascular treatment in the office.
Dr. Nedelman feels privileged to be back in Springfield and a member of SAS Surgery & Vein Specialists. His greatest priority is to provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art surgical care to his patients. Dr. Nedelman enjoys golf and travel.
